Job Description

Exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented Passive Fire Engineer, living anywhere between Bristol and Reading. Being mobile and covering a region you'll be open to travel with this covering a large geographical patch stretching along the M4, down to the South Coast and pushing into the South West.


As the successful candidate will be responsible for surveying and inspecting completed and upcoming fire door installations by contractors, ensuring all work meets regulatory and safety standards. The role also involves carrying out remedial repairs and installing new FD30 and FD60 fire doorsets. Additional duties will include small-scale fire stopping and compartmentation sealing works.


In-house training from our BM TRADA Approved Person will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:



Conduct surveys and inspections of existing and future fire door installations. Complete checklists and reports to verify contractor compliance with fire safety standards. Perform remedial repairs to fire doors to maintain full regulatory compliance. Install FD30 and FD60 fire doorsets in accordance with relevant fire safety regulations and manufacturer instructions. Carry out minor fire stopping and compartmentation sealing to maintain fire resistance across buildings. Liaise with contractors, store managers, and compliance teams to ensure smooth workflow and communication. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation and best practices.

Requirements:



Proven experience in fire door installation and remedial works. Knowledge of fire door regulations (e.g., BS 8214, BS 476, and/or BS EN 1634). Ability to carry out accurate surveys and compile clear, compliant reports. Experience with fire stopping and compartmentation sealing is desirable. Relevant qualifications or certifications (e.g., FIRAS, BM TRADA, IFC) preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
