The Process Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the egg pasteurisation line operates at the highest level of efficiency, reliability, and technical performance. This role includes ownership of the production line from a technical standpoint, ensuring scheduled maintenance is conducted, maximising uptime, and providing technical supervision to operators. The Process Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with Lean Manufacturing principles, working to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Technical Line Ownership & Performance Optimisation



Take full technical ownership of the egg pasteurisation line, ensuring it operates at peak efficiency. Monitor, analyse, and optimise process parameters to maximise output while maintaining product quality. Ensure overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) targets are met and develop strategies for performance improvement. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of technical issues to prevent reoccurrence.

Maintenance & Reliability



Ensure all scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities are conducted effectively and on time. Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure minimal downtime and quick resolution of breakdowns. Identify and implement reliability improvements to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned downtime. Maintain and update technical documentation related to the process and equipment

Technical Supervision & Operator Training



Provide technical leadership and supervision to operators working on the pasteurisation line. Train operators on correct machine operation, troubleshooting, and best practices for efficiency and safety. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and high performance. Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.

Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing



Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency and reducing costs. Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to optimise workflows and eliminate waste. Identify opportunities for automation and process innovations to improve plant performance. Support data-driven decision-making by tracking KPIs and implementing data-led process improvements

Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance



Ensure all processes adhere to food safety regulations (e.g., BRC, HACCP, GMP) and company quality standards. Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring safe operation of all equipment and adherence to best practices. Work with the Quality Assurance team to ensure product quality is maintained throughout the production process. Conduct process audits and contribute to internal and external compliance assessments.

Skills required



Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Food, or Process Engineering) or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Hands-on experience with process optimisation, troubleshooting, and technical supervision. Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and support operators. Experience with process automation and control systems

Relevant experience



Proven experience in a process engineering role within food manufacturing, ideally in egg processing, dairy, or similar environments
