Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for Patient Advisors to join our friendly team based in Plymouth. We have multiple locations including Plympton, Laira, Efford, Crownhill and the city centre and our patient advisor team work at these different locations. The successful candidate will earn 12.21 an hour and receive 6.6 weeks holiday pro rata (including bank holidays).

We are recruiting for:



6 whole time equivalent roles

fulltime, part time or a job share.

a variety of shift patterns available between Monday - Friday 8-6pm.

plus, extended hours on a Monday evening and Saturday morning shifts .

Who are we?



We are a GP Primary Care Network based within the Plymouth area, providing care to over 30,000 patients across 6 locations within Plymouth. We aspire to delivering excellence in health care and feel the best model to achieve this is one where we have a unified service working across multiple locations including Plympton, Laira, Efford, Crownhill and the city centre. This gives our patients choice: choice over where they visit and who they see. This is particularly useful for patients that need a little extra expertise - many of our clinicians have a specific area of interest and sometimes it is worth travelling to see them for their extra skills in a specific area.

We have approximately 140 employees and employ a wide variety of different roles including Salaried GP's, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists, Patient Advisors, Administrators and many more!

Role Responsibilities:



To meet and greet patients and visitors to the practice and deal with face-to-face or telephone requests. Support them in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Check ID for new patient registrations or Patients requesting or collecting documentation from the surgery. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including data input on the various computer packages in the Practice. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota. Handle incoming calls and queries, providing accurate information or directing queries to appropriate healthcare professionals. Process repeat prescriptions and assist with administrative tasks, such as filing and scanning documents. Work within an enthusiastic and friendly team of patient advisors across all of our Pathfields practices. Successful candidates will be expected to work at any of our sites if needed.

The ideal candidates will have:



Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first approach. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Discretion when dealing with sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Experience of working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise task effectively. Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm in difficult situations. Proficiency in IT systems and computer literate.

Preferred experience and skills:



Experience working in a healthcare or customer service environment. Previous experience using SystmOne. Knowledge of general practice operations and services.
