We are currently looking for a Patient Services Medical Telephonist to be part of the Ophthalmology Patient Services Team based in Rochdale, the job holder will provide a high quality administrative service to patients and colleagues across the patient pathway.
From accepting referrals to booking patients into the right appointments at the right time and ensuring all patient data is accurate to reception duties and answering patient queries, this role is varied and you will need to be able to learn fast, but you will be rewarded by quickly becoming part of a great team, helping make our service ever more slick and efficient and to ensure our patient experience is the best it can be.
The service provided may be face to face or via the telephone, with the job holder being courteous and professional at all times. The role demands great attention to detail and the ability to resolve queries at the first opportunity. Striving for excellence and a willingness to continuously improve to deliver the highest standards required to support the Ophthalmology service.
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

What you'll be doing
You'll act as first point of contact for patient enquiries and action accordingly whether via the telephone, in writing or face to face. Always aiming to resolve queries fully at the first opportunity.
With experience in accurate electronic record keeping and complaint resolution you'll work collaboratively with clinical and patient services staff to deliver the high standard of service required by our patients.
On receipt of patient calls, search computerised patient records, checking patient details and patient confidentiality.
Ensure accurate electronic record keeping.
Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
Actively participate in regular meetings.
Assist with resolving complaints at service level.
Work collaboratively with clinical and patient services staff to deliver the high standard of service required by our patients.
Book face to face and telephone appointments, including 1st appointments and follow ups.
Liaise with NHS providers regarding the management of onward patient referrals.
Receive and promptly action referrals for all areas of ophthalmology liaising with NHS providers as required.
Communicate with the Patient Services Coordinator to ensure that clinics are scheduled effectively, patients are allocated efficiently and that theatre and clinic capacity is optimised.
Building, extending and maintaining clinics while managing allocations at all times to ensure capacity is optimised.

You will be an experienced Administrator with
o Previous administration experience in a similar setting
o A sincere desire to be part of a team that takes great pride in helping patients
o Sound knowledge and understanding of IT and software packages (Word/Excell)
o Excellent Communication skills (Written and Phone)
