As a Patient Transport Driver / Assistant, you will drive and support patients with various mobility and care needs, safely transporting them to/from hospitals, clinics, and care homes across North Wales.
You'll ensure each journey is comfortable, dignified, and timely -- assisting patients into/out of vehicles, handling wheelchairs/stretchers, managing manual handling tasks, and offering reassurance and care at all times.
You'll work flexibly -- sometimes as part of a crew, sometimes independently -- and enjoy a varied schedule with opportunities for shift-work, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
What You'll Be Doing
Transporting patients safely and respectfully to appointments, treatment, or home.
Assisting with mobility aids: wheelchairs, carry-chairs, stretchers; helping patients in/out of vehicles and, where needed, negotiating stairs or other obstacles.
Performing vehicle and equipment safety checks -- tyres, lights, brakes, ensuring vehicles are clean and ready for use.
Helping with safe moving and handling of patients -- using correct techniques and ensuring comfort, dignity and safety at all times.
Keeping accurate journey records, patient transport records, mileage logs and any incident or vehicle defect reports, paper or electronic.
Communicating clearly and compassionately with patients, carers/families and healthcare staff;
Person Specification -- What We're Looking For
Full UK manual driving licence (Category B) -- clean or minimal endorsements.
Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks, often involving lifting or aiding patients and using mobility equipment.
Reliable, flexible and adaptable -- willing to work varied hours, including early mornings/late evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Compassionate with excellent interpersonal skills -- able to relate to people from different backgrounds, show empathy and maintain dignity and respect at all times.
Comfortable working alone or as part of a team; able to plan routes, manage time effectively, and respond calmly under pressure or unexpected situations.
Good literacy and numeracy (or equivalent experience) to complete paperwork accurately and use basic admin/computer systems when needed.
