We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Payroll Administrator to manage the end-to-end payroll process for our valued team of care professionals. This role is vital in ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time, and that all payroll records and reporting meet legal and organisational standards.
You will be responsible for processing payroll from start to finish, including timesheet validation, tax and pension deductions, and dealing with staff queries. Working closely with the HR and finance departments, you will also assist with compliance reporting, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.), and ensure our payroll processes are efficient and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and/or monthly payroll accurately using payroll software (e.g. SAGE, BrightPay, Moneysoft)
- Validate and input timesheets, ensuring all hours, overtime, mileage, and on-call payments are correctly recorded
- Manage PAYE, National Insurance, and auto-enrolment pension contributions
- Prepare and distribute payslips, P45s, P60s, and other required documents
- Handle pay queries and adjustments in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and personnel records in accordance with HMRC and GDPR requirements
- Collaborate with HR on new starters, leavers, holiday tracking, and sick pay (SSP, SMP, etc.)
- Assist with audits, internal reporting, and payroll-related compliance reviews
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices in the care sector
Requirements:
- Proven experience using payroll software such as Moneysoft, SAGE, BrightPay, or similar
- High level of numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity
- Good understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and statutory payments
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and basic accounting principles
- Strong organisational and time management skills, especially when working to strict deadlines
- Experience in the health or social care sector is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
