Payroll Administrator (part Time) 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Job Description

We are a team of friendly professionals based at the Southampton Science Park offering payroll services to multiple clients across different sectors.

We are looking for a reliable and organised payroll administrator who loves payroll as much as we do and who wants to go the extra mile to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:



Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients across various sectors. Liaise directly with client contacts to gather payroll data, resolve queries, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met. Process starters, leavers, and changes to employee records across multiple payrolls. Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), holiday pay, and other adjustments. Ensure accurate submission of RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC for all clients. Administration of auto-enrolment and pension contributions in line with Pension Regulator framework. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and advise clients on compliance. Support year-end processes and audits for client payrolls. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., HR, finance, IT) to improve payroll processes and client satisfaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications:



Proven experience in a payroll role, ideally within an outsourced or bureau environment. Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements. Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Iris, BrightPay, Sage, ADP, or similar). Excellent client communication and relationship management skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive data.

Desirable Qualifications:



Experience with cloud-based payroll platforms and client portals. Familiarity with payroll for different sectors (e.g., hospitality, construction, education).
Salary: negotiable, subject to experience

This is an office-based role 3 days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 5 hours per day.
