Job Description

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

"Reporting to the Reward Payroll Lead, you will be an integral part of the Reward Payroll Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the business by ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of the payroll schedule. You will provide essential Payroll Advisor support across all NRS sites, including NRS Dounreay. Your collaborative efforts will be crucial in maintaining payroll efficiency and addressing any payroll-related inquiries or issues that arise."


Key Deliverables:




Payroll Management:

Ensure accurate and timely monthly payroll processing with the support of the payroll provider.

First Line Support:

Resolve payroll-specific queries within defined SLAs, escalating to the payroll provider as necessary..

Data Management:

Input and manage data in payroll systems, perform preliminary checks on payroll reports, and handle transactional logs.

Audit and Compliance:

Assist in internal/external audits and ensure statutory compliance.

Problem Resolution:

Investigate and resolve payroll and payroll tax inquiries.

Process Improvement:

Understand and improve internal payroll processes and keep up to date with payroll legislation.

Financial Transactions:

Generate invoices, PO's, and handle purchasing card transactions.

Project Support:

Play a key role in Payroll transformation projects and participate in payroll system User Acceptance Testing..

Advice and Information:

Offer payroll advice and support for payroll projects, policies, and processes.

HR Collaboration:

Liaise with the wider HR Team to ensure excellent service delivery and value-added solutions.

Information Provision:

Provide payroll information to all levels of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience




Qualification at level 3 (England and Wales) and level 6 (Scotland), e.g. A Levels (Essential) Demonstrable Payroll / HR experience (Essential) Good IT skills in Microsoft Office (or similar office package) (Essential) HRIS experience within a Human Resource function (Essential) Has a foundation understanding of a relevant specialist area, e.g. employee relations, L&D, HRIS etc. (Desirable) Working towards relevant qualification - e.g. CIPD or other equivalent relevant professional qualification (Desirable)

This is a hybrid role and you will be expected to work from the NRS Bristol Hub a minimum of 2 days per week.

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) staff should refer to the document titled "Spot Point v Grade alignment" available on SharePoint for more information on how the grade structure aligns to Spot Points. Flexible working - where possible. The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee's annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers. Flexible benefits scheme - including cycle to work and reduced gym membership fees. Participation in Company Bonus Scheme (up to 5,750 per annum based on corporate objectives). There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
