Cut Price Timber is an independent timber merchant based in Tranent East Lothian. Our brand is built around giving our customers the highest level of customer service possible, whilst continuing to improve on what we offer. Our staff are our main asset and the backbone to our business, without them we could not offer the service that we do. Due to increased workloads we have an opportunity available for the right candidate.
To be considered for this opportunity we seek an individual who has knowledge and understanding of dealing with company accounts, payroll, reconciling financial data and assisting with VAT returns. You will work closely with the company director as part of a small team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Carrying out monthly payroll - around 12 - 15 employees. Reconciliation of transactions to aid VAT & Tax returns. Assisting all aspects of accounts (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications and collections). Ensure all companies house filing deadlines are met. Credit checking new business accounts, opening these accounts and carrying out credit control. Perform other job related duties and special projects assigned.
Skills & Experience:
Excellent attention to detail Strong numerical skills Understanding of basic accounting principles Good communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good computer skills.
This role offers the opportunity for the right individual to work flexibly around childcare or other commitments.
Expected hours per week: 20 -30 hours with a view of working around school times 9am to 3pm Monday to Thursday with Fridays hours being variable again around child care / school timings.

Pay: 13.25 per hour
