About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
HR & Payroll Assistant
to serve as the central point of contact for all HR and payroll matters across our team of approximately 250 employees. This is a key role supporting the full employee life cycle -- from recruitment and onboarding to monthly payroll processing and employee engagement.
Initially offered on a part-time basis, this role presents
strong potential to become full-time
in the near future for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the central point of contact for all HR and payroll-related matters.
Lead the end-to-end recruitment process: liaising with operations management, posting job adverts, conducting interviews, managing offers, and coordinating onboarding and induction processes.
Process and manage accurate monthly payroll for up to 250 employees.
Maintain up-to-date attendance and absence records and support management with reporting and identifying absence trends.
Manage day-to-day HR issues including disciplinaries, wellness meetings, and probation reviews,
with guidance from an external HR consultancy.
Handle sensitive employee relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
Support and drive employee engagement initiatives, including creating internal communications such as a monthly staff newsletter.
Organise staff events to promote a positive and engaging workplace culture.
Assist with the management of TUPE processes (full training provided).
Provide general support within the office and assist with operational tasks where necessary.
Requirements
Driving Licence:
A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel to off-site interviews may be required.
Qualifications/Experience:
1 years' Payroll experience preferred, ideally within a care or cleaning sector with a large number of remote part time workers.
CIPD Level 3 qualification. For the right candidate, this can be undertaken alongside the role.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Discretion, professionalism, and the ability to handle confidential information with care.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, varied role.
Additional Information
You will work closely with and have full access to our external HR consultancy for guidance and support.
The successful applicant will be based in a small office environment and must be willing to pitch in to support the wider business operations when required.
