Overview


We're looking for an experienced

Payroll Bureau Administrator

to join our growing payroll team for a part-time position.
Reporting directly to the

Head of Payroll

, you'll manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with UK legislation -- including CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and Auto-Enrolment requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll bureau experience who enjoys building client relationships and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities



Process end-to-end payrolls for multiple clients (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly). Manage CIS payrolls, including subcontractor verification, CIS deductions, and monthly CIS returns. Administer statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.) and pension contributions. Ensure compliance with HMRC Real Time Information (RTI) and Auto-Enrolment legislation. Reconcile payroll reports and resolve queries or discrepancies promptly. Produce payslips, P45s, P60s, and other payroll documentation accurately. Maintain strong client relationships, providing professional advice and support. Liaise with HMRC and pension providers when required. Support the Head of Payroll with process improvements and client onboarding.

Requirements



Minimum 1 year experience in a payroll bureau or multi-client payroll environment. Sound understanding of UK payroll legislation, CIS, RTI, and Auto-Enrolment. Confident using payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage, Xero. Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy. Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple clients. Strong communication and client service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

Desirable



Experience with cloud-based payroll systems.
