About the Role:
The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible for supporting with the design and implementation of function-based interventions for the people we support. They will work under the guidance of a PBS Specialist and be responsible for a specific case load of individuals.
They will provide quality training and coaching within the service, working with the PBS Lead support workers (where present).
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Support, under the guidance of the PBS Specialist, holistic assessments of behaviours of concern to identify possible maintaining functions
Monitor the implementation of function-based interventions with a focus on proactive and preventative strategies, replacement behaviours, and skills building
Where appropriate, support with the implementation and design of reactive strategies to manage behaviours of concern
Ensure interventions are monitored over the long term to ensure that they are effective and appropriate
Provide coaching and modelling for staff teams to successfully implement recommended behavioural strategies
Deliver bespoke training courses as required
Support staff to implement appropriate communication systems for all of the people we support
Work alongside multi-disciplinary teams (MHLD, CLDT, etc) and any key stakeholders such as families, advocates, and social workers
Complete a range of quality of life assessments to ensure all of the people we support are fully engaged with meaningful activities and are valued parts of their community
Promote the principles of Person-Centred Active Support within services and support teams to embed this in to practice
Offer advice and guidance on PBS planning within the day to day operations of the services
Policy and Service Development:
Work closely with services where it has been identified that standards need to improve, and provide and monitor improvement plans
Provide advice and guidance around PBS at managers meetings and all special interest groups
Continuing Professional Development:
Undertake any training that is required and maintain an up to date knowledge base

We work across Kent and Sussex; supporting individuals with autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and physical disabilities across residential care homes, supported living homes, day services and our fantastic outreach programme.
