Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced PC Processing Technician who is responsible for the end-to-end handling, assessment, and preparation of incoming computer equipment. This role involves accurately logging device information into bespoke in-house software, performing functional testing, and evaluating hardware specifications to determine processing requirements. The technician will securely remove storage devices, record them against the correct asset profiles for data-erasure tracking, and ensure all equipment is moved and organised within the appropriate warehouse locations. Attention to detail, consistent documentation, and adherence to data-handling procedures are essential to maintaining operational accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Logging & Tracking:
Accurately log device details (serial numbers, specs, ownership, condition) into bespoke software
Maintain thorough audit records for each asset's lifecycle
Device Inspection & Assessment:
Assess physical condition and functionality of devices
Determine suitability for refurbishment or resale
Perform quality checks before further processing
Data Security Compliance:
Adhere to strict data sanitization practices and security protocols (GDPR/NIST)
Document all clearance and assessment results for audit purposes
Handle confidential client data daily, maintaining the highest standards of data protection
Team Collaboration:
Work both independently and as part of a team to meet SLA deadlines
Communicate with management and colleagues regarding workflow, stock, and asset handling issues
Required Skills & Experience
Direct hands-on experience with PC's and workstations
Exposure to multiple brands/models (HP Dell Lenovo) is highly advantageous
Strong attention to detail in logging specification.
Ability to troubleshoot device settings efficiently
Basic knowledge of data security and compliance standards (GDPR/NIST)
Training provided, but prior understanding is preferred
Familiarity with asset management systems or ability to quickly learn bespoke software
Physically able to lift and move heavy IT equipment safely
Strong communication skills for accurate reporting and teamwork
Additional Requirements
Clean Enhanced DBS check (required)
Must be able to work on-site at Trafford Park, Manchester (no remote/hybrid options)
Willingness to complete a practical technical assessment as part of the application process
