Role Overview




This role requires working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design high-quality, high-speed, low-noise analogue and RF printed circuit boards, adhering to engineering, mechanical, and company standards and processes. The candidate should have knowledge and experience in their discipline while developing higher-level skills.


Responsibilities include analysing potential solutions using standard procedures, solving various straightforward problems, and building an understanding of the company, its processes, and its customers. The position involves collaborating with an in-house assembly team to ensure the timely delivery of boards that meet high standards of quality and manufacturability.


Reporting to the Head of PCB Layout and Configuration Management, the candidate will receive a moderate level of guidance and direction and guide new team members without having supervisory responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities



Design single-sided, double-sided and multi-layered PCBs using industry-standard techniques, ensuring considerations for DFM/DFT have been made (this includes impedance control high-speed digital design, analogue or complex circuits, featuring fine pitch components (BGA) and high pin count devices). Responsible for completing PCB designs by agreed project time, cost, quality and performance requirements. Understanding electronic design documentation (schematic and layout definitions). Working with Electronic/ RF Engineers to develop Schematics. CAD library administration, including symbol, footprint generation and database administration. Knowledge and ability to work to IPC standards. Creation and maintenance of enterprise data packs Creation of 3D models and assemblies from 2D layouts Technical liaison within Engineering and other company departments and external suppliers. Contributing to continual process improvement within the Engineering Department

We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to advance their career in PCB design within the satellite communications industry. This role is ideal for:

Experienced Test Engineers seeking progression into engineering roles and wanting to apply their practical knowledge to PCB design. Graduate PCB Design Engineers who have foundational skills and are ready to develop advanced capabilities in high-speed, low-noise analogue and RF board design.


The successful candidate will have:

Understanding of PCB design principles, including layout for high-speed and low-noise analogue/RF circuits. Familiarity with design tools and processes, and an appreciation of mechanical and manufacturing constraints. Hands-on experience in testing or PCB design, with exposure to analysing solutions and solving straightforward engineering problems. Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and an in-house assembly team to ensure boards meet quality and manufacturability standards.

Hybrid working is available for this role - Please ensure you able to commute to our Head Office in Hereford before applying.
