Job Summary



An exciting opportunity has arisen within Warrington Innovation Network for a Research Nurse to join our PCN on a part-time basis across 3 days per week Monday - Friday.

Salary dependants on experience.

As a Research Nurse, you will have the chance to work in our multi-disciplinary team leading the delivery of studies with our local population, expanding your skill set and expertise. You will arrange clinical study delivery and actively engage in recruitment, visits, data collection, participant monitoring, and implementation of research protocols, ensuring the highest standards of quality and integrity at all times.

The successful applicant will be an individual who is highly organised with excellent interpersonal and IT skills, can work to deadlines and most of all, have a 'can do' approach to their work.

Experience within primary care (especially chronic disease experience) is desirable, but not essential, as this role is also likely to suit an established research nurse who is currently working in secondary care but is looking to transition to a primary care role.

Communication



To liaise with PCN and practice teams as required by the research protocol to ensure safe and smooth running of studies.

To provide support for research and development and attend meetings relevant to the post.

To act as a resource for colleagues in relation to research studies

To assist in the education of all relevant health care professionals to enable them to care for research study patients.

To keep all appropriate staff informed of the progress of research studies.

The focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery and development of the NIHR.

Community research portfolio. The role is designed to increase research participation from non-NHS settings including community services, social care, voluntary sector and care homes.

To liaise with key groups and personnel in services within the community to publicise and promote research in the community.

To develop capacity within community services, social care, voluntary sector and care homes to recruit patients and carry out NIHR portfolio studies.

Analytical and Planning



To contribute to the development of clinical and research-controlled documents as appropriate in line with PCN policy

To ensure that research study recruitment records are accurately maintained, and data systematically recorded in healthcare records.

To maintain study site files and documentation.

To access appropriate computer systems to retrieve relevant information.

To ensure that research studies are effectively archived as required.

To provide information as required for the raising of invoices related to research studies.

Analysis and interpretation of a range of situations requiring statistical research in relation to patient conditions.

To maintain study site files and documentation.

Clinical Duties



Work within the NMC Code of Conduct and scope of professional conduct.

Be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with re validation requirements.

Conduct research in accordance with the relevant guidelines e.g. GCP Guidelines, EU Clinical Trials Directive and UK policy framework for health and social care research to protect the research participants and the quality of each study.

Undertake specific assessments of participants at practice sites, in their home or in community settings in line with the protocol and as delegated by the physician and monitor their condition throughout their participation.

Evaluate participant eligibility for entry to the study by carrying out screening assessments.

Policy and Service Development



Drive forward engagement with new research opportunities

Contribute to policy and service development as required.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings in non-NHS sites, including, community services, social care, voluntary sector, and care homes as appropriate to screen, recruit new participants and collect relevant data as required.

Develop strategies for community engagement with participants, health and social care professionals, and key stakeholders to facilitate the identification of new sites.

Assist in the education and support of health and social care professionals within community services to facilitate their involvement in research.

Assist in the education and support of health and social care professionals within community services to enable them to care for clinical trial participants where appropriate.

Assess the needs of participants, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.

Educate and counsel participants, family and those who volunteer for research studies before, during and after research studies and investigations.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of research related topics particularly related to research studies.

Financial and Physical Resources



Personal duty of care for equipment used.

Develop physical/clinical skills as required to use clinical equipment.

The post holder will be required to have Business car insurance.

The post holder will be required to submit reasonable travel expenses through the Expense system.

Be responsible for study equipment and be competent to use clinical equipment of required in patient's homes, or other venues.

Information Resources

Ensure study documentation is updated and logged on database system (EDGE).

Keep up to date on research related topics, regulations and guidelines.

Collect record data accurately in accordance with professional guidelines
