PE Teacher (Maternity Cover)

--------------------------------

Job description

The Vale Academy is looking to appoint a Teacher of PE to join our academy in February 2026 on a full time, temporary basis.

Please note the teaching timetable will include 10 lessons of Health and Social Care (GCSE x 1 and A Level x 9) per week.

Your new school

The Vale is a successful and high-achieving 11-18 academy which has an excellent reputation and an established trend of high student outcomes, which are consistently above those achieved nationally. Indeed, 2023 outcomes placed the academy second in the local authority for overall progress which was "above" national average at +0.32 and its attainment at 4+ and 5+ in both English and Maths was 74% and 50% respectively. Provisional results for 2024 see this trend continuing with students' performance in English and Maths being significantly above national averages with 65% of students achieving a 5+ in both English and Mathematics.

The academy is situated in Brigg, North Lincolnshire and serves a largely rural community. Brigg itself is a historic market town on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Many of our students travel a considerable distance to school.

We provide state of the art facilities and an outstanding learning environment for both students and staff. The Vale also offers an extensive and varied programme of extra-curricular activities to support a rich and rounded education, both within and beyond the classroom.

Your new team

You will be joining an ambitious, committed and hardworking team who are passionate about the difference we can make to our young people, staff, families and the wider community. Our PE department is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Physical Education Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave in February 2026. If you wish to inspire and excite young minds through strong teaching, building a positive culture, and helping students grow in confidence for the future, we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be able to bring their skills as a Physical Education Teacher to our exciting, innovative and vibrant school. You will be able to contribute with enthusiasm to the busy extra-curricular life of the department and school, including after-school fixtures.

The ability to teach Physical Education across all age ranges and qualifications, including Cambridge Nationals and BTEC Health and Social Care would be advantageous.

The PE department delivers an effective and aspirational curriculum designed to inspire life-long enjoyment of, and participation in, exercise and physical activity. The department is fortunate to have access to a wide range of high-quality facilities, including a brand-new fitness Suite, 4-court sports hall, gymnasium as well as extensive playing fields and a MUGA.

Why join our academy?
