Brief Description

We are looking for a Pensions Officer to fill a Fixed-term/ Secondment opportunity based in either Milton Keynes or London Waterloo, to provide support to the Director of Pensions and Pensions Manager in relation to the administrative and operational matters of the Network Rail (NR) Pension Schemes. Also to provide guidance and answer queries from employees (and their professional advisors) of NR in relation to their Pension Provision.

About the role (External)

What will your day look like?

The role of Pensions Officer is a multifaceted role in that you will undertake various duties including (but not limited to):

\xc2\xb7 Supervise individuals in the Pensions Team on the operation and administration of NR\'s Pension arrangements. Develop junior members of the Pensions Team to deliver effective succession planning for all roles.

\xc2\xb7 Provide pro-active guidance to employees, The wider NR HR Community and resolve queries in relation to NR pension arrangements.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain and improve effective working relationships within NR HR and Finance, along with the 3rd party Scheme administrators for an effective delivery of pension services.

\xc2\xb7 Evaluate and look to continually improve the development of the plain English communications strategies and materials for both NR and the Pension Scheme Trustees on Pensions related topics.

\xc2\xb7 Manage work streams and provide oversight and support to NR Business-wide large projects in relation to the delivery of pension related benefits and to lead on small-medium pension related projects. Provide support on HR initiatives as required.

\xc2\xb7 Check and approve the more complex calculations of contributions and benefits for scheme members across the various NR Pension Schemes.

\xc2\xb7 To provide support to the Pensions Manager in the preparation of Trustees/Committee meetings along with attending the meetings as and when required.

\xc2\xb7 Identify and recommend appropriate department improvements to Director of Pensions, to improve company processes, systems and data accuracy. Once improvements are agreed then proceed to implement.

\xc2\xb7 Deliver presentations on company pension arrangements to employees and the HR Teams as when required.

\xc2\xb7 Carry out any additional duties within reason as and when required.

What essential skills and experiences are required?

The successful candidate for this role will be required to be/have: -

1. Experience of working within an Occupational Pensions Department.

2. Knowledge of the provision and legislation of UK Pension Benefits.

3. Experience of a wide range of aspects of pension scheme administration and the calculation of benefits.

4. Ability to effectively communicate complex information and issues to non-specialists.

5. Ability to manage customer expectation and deliver great customer service.

6. Highly Analytical individual who has high attention to detail.

7. Able to build strong relationships with both key internal and external stakeholders

1. Appropriate pensions professional qualification

Duration: 18 month fixed term, full-time opportunity (this role has been advertised externally)

Location: The Quadrant: Milton Keynes or London Waterloo. For this location you will need to live within 75 minutes from the office location or be willing to relocate.
