Job Description

The Performance Cafe & Retail Manager is responsible for transforming our on-site cafe and exclusive merchandise store into two high-performance revenue centers. This role requires strong commercial acumen and a commitment to hospitality excellence, ensuring that the food, beverage, and apparel offerings enhance the overall member experience and adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and presentation.

You will manage all stock, lead your team, and ensure the retail environment reflects the precision and quality of the Castle Gym brand.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Launch Readiness

Inventory & Stocking: Finalise initial inventory lists for all retail merchandise (apparel, accessories) and cafe consumables. Establish clear supplier relationships and receiving protocols. Menu & Pricing Audit: Review and finalise the cafe menu, ensuring profitable pricing structures and adherence to nutritional quality standards. Staff Training: Recruit and train cafe/retail staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, cash handling procedures, and essential food safety/hygiene protocols. System Testing: Oversee the setup and stress-testing of all Point-of-Sale (POS), inventory management, and ordering systems.

Post-Launch Execution

Revenue Generation: Drive proactive sales strategies for both the cafe (food/drink) and the exclusive merchandise line, maximising average transaction value and overall profit margins. Operational Excellence: Manage daily operations, ensuring exceptional speed of service, presentation of products, and flawless execution of coffee and smoothie preparation. Team Leadership: Schedule, motivate, and mentor the cafe/retail team, ensuring they embody the Dynamic Performance Mentor tone in all customer interactions. Quality & Compliance: Maintain stringent control over stock levels, minimise waste, and ensure 5-star food hygiene and safety compliance across the entire cafe area.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within high-volume retail, cafe, or hospitality operations (e.g., store manager, operations lead). Proven success in inventory management, profit and loss (P&L) accountability, and driving commercial performance. Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and team scheduling. Highly energetic, meticulous about presentation, and possesses a strong customer service focus.
