Kendal College offers an opportunity to join our nationally recognised creative team as a Performing Arts Lecturer. Working at our dedicated arts campus, you will join the team offering a wide range of theatre, dance and performing arts programmes whilst also having the opportunity to work closely with Kendal's outstanding arts organisations - such as the Brewery Arts Centre, Lakeland Arts Trust, and the town's groundbreaking international festivals.



We seek someone with experience in musical theatre and dance/choreography who can apply this to their performing arts skills and creativity in various contexts. We would particularly welcome candidates with sound working knowledge of professional theatre practice. We have a reputation for the quality of our performance work (acting, singing, and dancing) driven by its tutors and realised by our passionate students. We would be particularly interested in candidates who could offer other specialist disciplines within the performing arts alongside Musical Theatre.



The successful candidates will themselves be educated to at least Level 4 and capable of sharing their knowledge with our students in an engaging and informative manner that benefits their passion for the performing arts industry.



Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone who is confident in sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. We would support you in gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us.

Job Overview

Teaching:

Deliver engaging and effective lessons across a variety of curriculum disciplines.

Curriculum Development:

Lead the development of specific subjects within the curriculum, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.

Research & Consultancy:

Engage in significant research and consultancy activities to enhance the academic and practical learning experience.

Course Verification & Leadership:

Oversee course verification processes, coordinate course teams, and provide leadership to ensure high education standards.

Impactful Role:

Play a crucial role in shaping the future of the related industry by mentoring and educating the next generation of skilled professionals.

Classroom Management:

To ensure student retention and achievement targets are met. Provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn. Ensure that adequate resources and materials are provided to enhance learning, thereby enriching the opportunity and experience of learners.
