Read School is seeking to appoint a motivated, experienced and qualified Peripatetic Music Teacher (Guitar) to teach the chosen instrument to students to bring out the best in their abilities through identifying areas for development and implementing appropriate strategies to release their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Set up a termly teaching timetable in consultation with the Head of Music and amend this should the need arise to provide flexibility (e.g. because of school trips or events)
Deliver 25-minute lessons on a rotating timetable appropriate to the standard of the allocated pupils on a weekly basis
Assess and keep a record of pupil progress and provide updates on progress and achievement as required
Follow exam board specifications as appropriate and prepare pupils fully for examinations
Advise and encourage pupils to take advantage of appropriate musical activities, such as ensembles, competitions and other musical opportunities
Prepare pupils fully for performances and auditions
Contribute to the extra-curricular music programme by attending and/or performing in concerts as required
Work under the direction of the Head of Music to ensure that all public performances are rehearsed in advance and to maintain excellent performance standards
Be aware of the individual needs of pupils by liaising with the Head of Music, teachers and parents as appropriate
Keep a record of attendance and lesson content, following up absences and offering flexibility for lessons to be caught up
Communicate with parents as appropriate and produce bi-annual written reports in good time for distribution
Communicate with class teacher, and Head of Music, as appropriate
Undertake other reasonable tasks relevant to the musical needs of the School as they arise

Salary: The position is as a self-employed teacher with further details available upon request. No charge is made for room rental in school.

The notice period required by either side to terminate your employment will be one full term.
