The starting salary for this full-time, permanent role is \xc2\xa334,356 per annum based on a 36-hour working week based at Woodhatch Place Reigate.

We have a great opportunity for a Personal Advisor to join our Leaving Care Team, where you can make a positive change in young lives.

For this role we are looking for candidates who are willing and able to be in the office twice a week. This will enable you receive the support you\'ll need to do the job and balances our commitment to building effective team resilience and a positive team culture.

As a Personal Advisor (PA) you will case-hold some of our most high risk and complex young people, participating in the assessment and preparation of Pathway Plans for those who are eligible.

The Pathway Plan sets out the young person\'s aspirations regarding education, accommodation, health, social relationships, and specific needs. For asylum seeking young people, this will include how their immigration status may impact on these areas. You will chair and lead the Pathway Plan review according to statutory requirements, including liaising with partners for young people living out of Surrey County Council.

As a PA you will be able to recommend services that the local authority maybe required to pay for, and while you would hold no direct budget responsibilities, you would be required to have an understanding of the finance policy. Alongside your caseload, you will be required to carry out duty on a rota basis.

Working together with the Team Manager and wider team, you will make a personal contribution to a collective endeavour; creating the conditions for success and actively contributing to the development of the service. Alongside this, you may be responsible for representing the Leaving Care Service at working groups, such as participation events and at Care Council meetings.

Here are the qualities, skills & experiences we are looking for in our Personal Advisor:

  • Educated to GCSE level or able to demonstrate skills to an equivalent level
  • NVQ Level 2 in Children and Young People with a commitment to development and training
  • An awareness of relevant legislation e.g. The Children and Social Act 2017 with an understanding of young care leavers and related issues, including unaccompanied asylum seekers and socially excluded young people
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with key agencies, colleagues and young people, including those who may be disengaged. You must be able to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent IT, administrative and organisational skills
  • Experience working with young people in social care settings with previous case holding responsibility
