Are you Caring, Enthusiastic and looking for work where you can make a Positive Difference to a wonderful young man?
I am seeking passionate and pro-active personal assistants to join my son's small team of support to work closely at our family home in the Tarvin area. There is a mixture of midweek after school, weekends, and holiday shifts as well as waking night shifts available.
My amazing, gentle, cheeky and loving young man enjoys a full and active life. He has a complex, intractable epilepsy syndrome as well as an autism diagnosis, is non-verbal and has physical and learning disabilities, resulting in high level support needs, requiring the assistance of those who know him well, to support him in all his daily living activities, including his personal care and safety.
He enjoys various sensory activities trampolining, listening to music /watching TV children's programmes/looking at books/hydrotherapy and hippotherapy (equine therapy). Communication is mostly using intensive interaction, mirroring and strategies to enable choice making. He has use of a Motability vehicle and enjoys trips out the car, often to walks in local woods and to the beach. He is very sensory learner and enjoys the feel of leaves under foot and sand /stones. He requires use of a wheelchair when he is tired.
Previous experience in supporting young adults with epilepsy/autism and learning delay is preferred but is not essential as full training and guided supervision will be provided. Personal qualities such as good communication, confidence, patience, kindness and a desire to bring lots of interactive fun, enthusiasm and smiles with a positive energy are essential. This is an intimate role providing close support within our family home and requires a person who wants to make a real difference to an amazing young man. Is this you? then I would love to hear from you.
