Job summary




The Air Mobility Force plays a key role in RAF Brize Norton's output. This is a combination of military, civilian and supporting contractors located at RAF Brize Norton and RAF Northolt, together maintaining the highly operational output of both regular and reserve units. The Air Mobility Force is home to the RAF's Strategic and Tactical Air Transport and Air-to-Air Refuelling capabilities, as well as Number 32, The Royal Squadron, responsible for VIP transport. With its mixed fleet of aircraft, the Air Mobility Force provides rapid global mobility in support of UK overseas Operations and Exercises, as well as Air-to-Air Refuelling support for fast jet aircraft both on Operations and in support of UK Homeland Defence. Our mission is to "provide UK Defence with the ability to deploy, sustain and recover personnel and equipment over significant distance". We seek excellence in all we do to deliver world-class Air Mobility, maintaining strong and effective relationships throughout.

Job description




This is an exciting opportunity to join an essential team within RAF Brize Norton, assisting with the smooth running of the Air Mobility Force by supporting the Air Mobility Force Commander and Deputy Air Mobility Force Commander on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will be a valued member of the team, operating in a challenging, fast-paced environment, with the impact of their work directly affecting key stakeholders and wider business areas.


The successful candidate will undertake a variety of administration and organisational tasks, mainly constructing a structured working day for the Force Commander and Deputy, planning and coordinating all meetings, visits and office calls using the electronic and paper diaries, minimising disruption and ensuring efficient use of time.


Other responsibilities include:

Collation of briefing papers. Management of office mail. Management of information flow. Coordination of travel arrangement (including overseas) and visit clearances. Monitoring, ordering, and distribution of stationery and other office supplies. Any other administration duties as required, commensurate with the grade. ###

Person specification




We are looking for a candidate who is personable as they will become an essential, front facing member of the Air Mobility Force HQ. They must have great organisational skills and be content with managing change, due to the nature of the MOD. The candidate must also be IT literate, e.g. be capable to work on Office Programmes as managing the Air Mobility Force Commanders Outlook Calendar is key to this roles success.###

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.


External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
