Job Description

Contract:

Permanent

Hours:

Full time

If you are a highly organised and experienced administrator looking for your next career role, then Emanuel School has an exciting opportunity for you.

We are looking for a Personal Assistant to play a pivotal role in the smooth running of the school, providing crucial administrative assistance to a key member of our senior support staff.

The role

You will provide a high standard of administrative and management support to the Bursar, including managing their diary, scheduling appointments, and handling correspondence and enquiries. You will also help prepare the Bursar for key meetings, by preparing agendas, taking minutes and distributing accurate records.

Alongside your PA duties, you will support the work of our HR department. This will involve assisting with the onboarding process for new staff members, managing job adverts, arranging interviews, liaising with candidates and conducting safeguarding interviews.

Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday in term time and 9:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday during school holiday periods. Occasional Saturday mornings and evenings may also be required.

About you

You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. You must have excellent IT skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.

You will also possess previous experience of working in a busy administrative environment and taking minutes in formal meetings, ideally with a financial focus.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills will also be essential, in addition to strong attention to detail and swift typing skills.

Working at Emanuel

There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school's aims and aspirations.

Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there's a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.

We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees' professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we're committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
