Personal Assistant - Weekend Role (Independent Living)
About the Role
I am a physically disabled young woman employing Personal Assistants to support me to live independently in my own home. I work, have an active social life, and share my home with two dogs. This role is about working with me, enabling me to live my life on my own terms.
You will be joining a small, established team of eight Personal Assistants, working together to provide consistent and reliable support.

Permanent contract
6-month probationary period
Pay, Training & Leave
15.00 per hour
Fully paid training provided (including hoist use)
Annual leave: 5.6 weeks per year, pro rata
Leave year runs April - March
Hours & Shifts
Saturday and Sunday
Start time: 8:00am
Finish time: flexible between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, depending on your preference
Approximately 18-26 contracted hours per weekend (9-13 hours per day)
Additional hours available through covering annual leave, shift swaps, and occasional extra support
Annual leave and shift changes are managed collaboratively within the team
What Support Looks Like
Assistance with personal tasks such as dressing, grooming, and toileting, when required
Supporting safe transfers using a hoist, following agreed guidance and training
Support with mobility using appropriate equipment and techniques
Practical support around the home, including light cleaning, laundry, and tidying
Supporting meal preparation and eating where needed
Support to get to and from appointments and social activities
Accompanying me out and about as part of an active lifestyle
Helping with the day-to-day care of my two dogs
Person Specification / Criteria
Essential
A respectful, person-led approach and willingness to take direction
Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to agreed hours
Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately
Understanding of the importance of privacy, dignity, and boundaries
Willingness to learn and follow agreed ways of working
Comfortable working in someone's home
Comfortable around dogs
Desirable
Experience working as a Personal Assistant or in a similar home based role
Understanding of disability rights or the Independent Living movement
Experience using mobility equipment or a willingness to learn
A flexible approach and ability to work as part of a small team
No formal qualifications or previous care experience are required. Attitude, reliability, and respect are more important than experience.
