Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to support a young man age 18 with daily living activities. The role is working in a care team and you will work with one other carer or the parent. The role is a minimum of one full weekend day a month plus minimum of two full days a week during school holidays, when these hours are done is totally flexible and more hours may become available if desired.

This role involves providing personalised care, following a behaviour support plan and driving the clients vehicle to take client out into the community. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, and have a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for those in their care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Successful applicants will be on a 13.50 salary for a short trial Period then once both parties are happy that the role is for you salary will quickly rise to the full amount. Usually after one month shift depending. Shifts are organised in around two months advance of dates and you must be reliable.

Duties

Assist clients with personal hygiene, toileting, washing, dressing, and grooming needs Driving the clients car. Administer medication following care plans and instructions Assisting client to be able to access community events. Help to plan events and suggest suitable outings. Gain an understanding of clients needs and behaviours and be able to follow a care plan to support. Accompany clients to appointments or outings, utilising driving skills when necessary Communicate effectively with client, the team of carers, family members, and on occasion healthcare professionals to ensure consistent care delivery

Skills

Proficiency in English with excellent communication skills Able to work with challenging behaviour, stay calm in all situations and follow support plans. An understanding of autism and learning difficulties Experience working or volunteering with special needs and challenging behaviour or providing home care is advantageous Knowledge or happy to learn about following care plans tailored to individual needs Energetic and happy to do activities such as dancing singing and lots of walking! Valid driving licence and no recent convictions. Vehicle is automatic 7 seater. Clean driving licence. Compassionate attitude and lots ot energy to keep up with an energetic young man. Ability to work as part of a team Good understanding of health and safety procedures within care environments

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 16.87 per hour
