We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Pharmacist to play a key leadership role within our homecare service. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the pharmacy function, ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of medicines to patients to their homes, while also driving service improvements and innovation.
In this role, you will not only manage day-to-day pharmacy operations, but also lead, support, and advise on a variety of pharmacy and homecare-related projects. This includes developing and refining processes, ensuring full compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and supporting the integration of pharmacy services into wider operational and patient care strategies.
You will act as a trusted subject matter expert, working closely with the Head of Operations, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to deliver projects that enhance patient safety, improve efficiency, and maintain our reputation for excellence. This is a hands-on role that combines professional responsibility with strategic input, offering scope to shape and grow our homecare pharmacy services.
Duties
Lead the safe and effective operation of the registered pharmacy in line with GPhC Guidance for Responsible Pharmacists.
Develop and maintain pharmacy policies, inventory management systems, and accurate record-keeping.
Provide expert input and oversight for pharmacy and homecare-related projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Monitor and support the competency of all pharmacy staff, identifying and addressing training and development needs.
Act as a key pharmacy information resource for patients, customer care, finance, and the management team.
Provide Responsible Pharmacist cover in the dispensary as required.
Lead induction and training programmes, including NVQ Level 2 Dispensing Assistant training.
Maintain appropriate stock levels, oversee stock receipt, and conduct regular stocktakes.
Communicate shortages or supply issues promptly to relevant stakeholders.
Conduct expiry date audits and maintain prescriber bona fides, unlicensed medicine declarations, and switch protocol documentation.
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to review and enhance medicines management policies and processes.
Qualifications
GPhC-registered Pharmacist (full-time practising).
BSc (Hons) Pharmacy or equivalent.
Registered member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Experience in homecare, community, or hospital pharmacy environments preferred.
Strong understanding of GDP, GMP, and pharmacy regulatory compliance preferred.
