We are recruiting a Pharmacy Counter Assistant to join our new community pharmacy in Thame,

opening April 2026

.

This is a patient-facing role at the heart of the pharmacy. You will be the first point of contact for customers, supporting safe supply of medicines, NHS and private services, and delivering excellent customer service.

Important

Before opening, successful candidates will be offered a temporary paid role at Wheatley Pharmacy for training and onboarding. A permanent contract at Thame Pharmacy will follow on opening.

Key responsibilities

Welcoming and assisting patients and customers at the counter Selling OTC and P medicines in line with training and SOPs Signposting patients to the pharmacist and pharmacy services Supporting NHS and private services bookings Managing prescriptions hand-out and basic PMR tasks Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional pharmacy environment
About you

Friendly, confident, and professional communicator Customer-focused with strong attention to detail Comfortable working in a healthcare environment Previous pharmacy or retail experience desirable (but not essential) Willing to complete relevant pharmacy training (e.g. MCA/Counter Assistant training)
