We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the pharmacy operations by assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. This role is essential in ensuring that our patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently.
Duties
Welcome and assist customers in selecting suitable OTC medications, health products, and personal care items.
Provide informed advice on non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and supplements, referring to the pharmacist when necessary.
Promote and explain pharmacy services such as Blood Pressure Checks, Pharmacy First, Smoking Cessation, Weight Management, Flu Vaccinations, and other NHS or private health services.
Educate customers on the benefits of multivitamins, minerals, and general wellness products, supporting healthy lifestyle choices.
Handle sales transactions accurately, operate the till, and manage cash or card payments.
Maintain fully stocked and organized shelves, ensuring products are in date and attractively displayed.
Assist in stock control processes, including ordering, receiving, checking, and rotating stock.
Support promotional campaigns, merchandising, and in-store health awareness events.
Ensure the OTC area and the wider pharmacy remain clean, tidy, and safe for customers and staff.
Comply with confidentiality, data protection, and pharmacy regulations at all times.
Undertake additional duties as directed by the pharmacist or pharmacy manager to support the efficient operation of the pharmacy.
Requirements
Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
Good product knowledge, particularly in OTC medicines, supplements, and vitamins.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Basic computer skills for managing pharmacy software systems
A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health regulations
