Overview:

Ballards Walk Surgery, a progressive GP practice, part of West Basildon PCN, located in Basildon, Essex, is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. As a valued member of our practice, you will play a crucial role in supporting our commitment to providing exceptional patient care and medication management services.

The post holder will:

- Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients and synchronise medicines for patient transfers between care settings linking with local community pharmacists, and referring to the pharmacist for structured medication reviews as required.

- Build relationships within the care home, GP care home lead, pharmacist and other pharmacy technicians.

- To respond to medication queries or requests for repeat medication.

-Support the role of the Clinical Pharmacists in the delivery of the clinicial pharmacy services.

-Perform medicines improvement work to maximise safe, cost effective best practice in prescribing under the supervision of the GP or Clinical Pharmacist.

- Assist with medication safety monitoring systems (e.g.high risk drugs).

- Liaise with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve medicine-related queries.

- Monitor practice prescribing and adherence to practice, local and national prescribing policies.

-Improve service and quality through mechanisms such as audit.

- Support the practice in achieving QOF.

- To be aware of the prescribing budget and identify and action areas of cost improvement.

- Work with the team to ensure the practice is compliant with CQC standards where medicines are involved.

-Experience:

- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is requested.

- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician or similar role is preferred.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
