About the role
We have the opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our progressive Pharmacy Research team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust and contribute to the implementation of research and development within the trust.
The Pharmacy Research department oversees the implementation and ongoing monitoring of a wide portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial studies. The main duties of this role include dispensing and accuracy checking of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP's), writing Dispensing Protocols, maintaining Pharmacy Site Files and liaising with the trust's Research and Development team and study sponsors to ensure high standards of Clinical Trial set-up and delivery are conducted in accordance with all regulatory and professional standards. The successful applicant will also support the Aseptic Services team by acting as a Pre and In-Process checker for the preparation of Chemotherapy, Parenteral Nutrition (PN) and Central Intravenous Additive Service (CIVAS) including Aseptic research preparations.
As well as being motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate must able to well work under pressure and as part of a team. Previous experience of working with IMPs and in an Aseptic Services Pharmacy environment is desirable.

Main duties
Assist the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research in writing and implementing study dispensing protocols and procedures
Participate in meetings with research nurses, investigators and trial sponsors to establish and maintain a good working relationship to provide an effective pharmacy research service.
Meet and greet the Trial Clinical Research Associates and facilitate monitoring visits.
Assist the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research in ensuring that all trials have appropriate documentation and are maintained in good order.
To order and receive supplies as necessary and ensure appropriate levels are maintained.
In the absence of the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research act as lead for temperature excursions following the relevant clinical trials procedure.
Assist the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research in attending site selection visits, feasibility meetings and site initiation visits.
Assist the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research in assembling new Pharmacy Site Files.
Assist the Specialist Technician Pharmacy Research in processing study amendments following the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust's Research and Development team approval.
Update and maintain the clinical trials database to maintain accurate records
Check study items and dispensed items for accuracy as an accredited checker
Assemble and prepare aseptic preparation
Act as a pre and in-process checker for aseptic preparation
Participate in the Aseptic weekend, evening and bank holiday rotas.
Key requirements
The successful candidate must be a registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician and as such hold a Level 3 Qualification in Pharmacy Services.
Certificate of Accreditation as a Checking Technician
Significant Post Qualification Experience
Physically able to perform the duties of the post i.e. working within a Pharmaceutical Isolator and accessing stock from high and low shelving.
