Join our Pharmacy team at Maudsley Hospital as a Band 6 Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician, supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical trials across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. In this specialist role, you will manage the day-to-day running of pharmacy clinical trials, ensure full compliance with ICH-GCP and regulatory standards, prepare SOPs, maintain accurate documentation and trial files, and support the safe dispensing, checking and accountability of investigational medicinal products (IMPs). Working closely with clinical trial pharmacists, investigators and research teams, you will play a key part in enabling safe and effective research that supports innovation in mental health care.

You will also contribute to wider pharmacy services, including acting as an Accredited Checking Technician, supervising staff, supporting audits and inspections, and providing medication information to patients and colleagues. The role offers the opportunity to be involved in service development, financial monitoring of trials, and ongoing improvement projects within the clinical trials pharmacy. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, detail-focused technician with hospital clinical trials experience to take the next step in a dynamic research environment.

What you can add:

Manage and maintain clinical trial pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with GCP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements. Review trial protocols and prescriptions for safety, suitability, and adherence to guidelines. Dispense and perform final accuracy checks on clinical trial medications as an ACT. Maintain stock control, storage, temperature monitoring, and reconciliation of clinical trial medications. Coordinate timely supply of medications to wards and patients; supervise and support dispensary staff. Act as pharmacy representative during audits, inspections, and meetings; provide staff training. Communicate with investigators, research teams, and patients; offer advice and counselling where appropriate. Participate in service improvement projects and clinical trials pharmacy development.
What you'll need:

Minimum 6 months experience as a Pharmacy Technician in NHS/Private setting within last 2 years. NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences or a recognised equivalent Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), with mandatory CPD Accredited checking technician course successfully completed Experience working in a hospital pharmacy clinical trials service and current GCP certificate Demonstrate experience of writing SOPs and research documents Pharmaceutical knowledge in mental health
