Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in phlebotomy and be proficient in various techniques for collecting blood samples from patients. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a clinical setting.

Duties

Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages, including paediatrics. Ensure the accurate identification of patients and the correct labelling of samples. Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent infection. Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and ensure proper handling and transportation. Document all procedures accurately in accordance with medical protocols and laboratory standards. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and comfort during the blood collection process. Assist in the training of new staff or interns in phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols. Stay updated with advancements in phlebotomy practices, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Phlebotomist, preferably within a hospital or clinical environment. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to blood collection procedures. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory practices. Experience with catheterisation is advantageous but not essential. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients. Attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks accurately under pressure. A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health regulations.
