Phlebotomist
Job Description
The following are the primary responsibilities of the phlebotomist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols Maintaining accurate patient records on SystmOne The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters Process laboratoy samples requested by the GPs and nurses
