Job Overview

Salary Available Upon Request 20 to 35 hours a week



Plas Menai Health Centre have a vacancy for a Phlebotomist working as part of a team, the primary role will be to undertake venepuncture using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients; explain the process; complete appropriate documentation; store samples in the correct environment and send to the laboratory.

Ensure an organised and clean work area and re-stocking of equipment as necessary.

This is a newly created position and the successful applicant will support the practice nursing team, working as part of the Practices' multidisciplinary team.

The Phlebotomist will primarily undertake all aspects of the venepuncture procedure.



Collect blood samples directly from patients by venepuncture

Accurate identification of patient and labelling of samples.

Responsible for data entry on to the computer system

Maintains records in relation to activities carried out.

Communication with all patients of varying needs.

Adhere strictly to established Practice protocols and policies

Housekeeping/Ordering of stock

Qualification Specifications

Essential

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics Qualification in Phlebotomy
Desirable

Able to take Blood Pressure

Experience Specifications

Essential

Experience of working within a healthcare setting Experience of working with the general public

Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of emisweb/optum
About Plas Menai Surgery

Our team ethos embraces comprehensive generalist care in the community. We place great effort in making General Practice accessible again. This includes using a digital platform (AccuRx) as a flexible interactive way of connecting patients and staff. Our ethos also includes the community in strategic decision making. We have a strong clinical team of 2 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, alongside a varied Multidisciplinary team. We are the only practice in North Wales to employ our own Physiotherapist and Physicians Associate to complement our expanding team.

We embrace new ideas and concepts from creating multi-disciplinary teams to Digital Triage. We have a strong team of clinicians and administration staff who care about General Practice within our community.

We have weekly clinical meetings where all team members discuss what matters. We are a teaching practice including medical, nursing and GP trainees We are an active research practice, with strong links to Bangor and Cardiff University, The University of Liverpool and Imperial College London, and opportunities to participate in research projects.
