We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in phlebotomy and demonstrate proficiency in various laboratory techniques. This role is essential for ensuring the accurate collection and processing of blood samples, contributing to effective patient care and diagnosis.
Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and capillary draws with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent contamination.
Accurately label and process blood samples for laboratory analysis.
Document patient information and maintain detailed records of procedures performed.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Provide support in paediatric phlebotomy, adapting techniques for younger patients.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
Assist in the training of new staff or interns in phlebotomy techniques as required.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
Previous hospital experience is highly desirable.
Proficient in phlebotomy techniques with a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to blood collection and laboratory processes.
Experience with catheterisation is an advantage.
Knowledge of basic life support principles is preferred.
