Job Summary

You will deliver and enhance the student, staff and external community experience at RGU through the development and delivery of opportunities to take part in physical activity.

This role will collaborate with staff across the university to animate our campus through sport and physical activity and will work with partners across the region to grow and develop community programmes. It will form part of the development team at RGU SPORT and will design, deliver and review income generating and positive impact programmes with the goal of improving the physical, mental and social wellbeing of both the University and wider community, in line with sportscotland's Changing Lives Through Sport approach.

You will hold Level 2 or above in coaching/teaching/instructing/trainer assessor approved qualifications or equivalent, and have experience in delivering sport, physical activity and exercise plans as well as planning, coordinating and promoting activities / events.

PURPOSE OF POST:

To deliver and enhance the student, staff and external community experience at RGU through the development and delivery of opportunities to take part in physical activity.

PRICIPAL DUTIES:



1.Coordinate, develop, manage and deliver on specific areas of RGU SPORT's income generating programmes, such as: Climbing, Group Exercise, Children, Schools and Community Engagement activity and Learn to Swim.

2. Create, develop, implement and review programme development plans.

3. Liaise with appropriate internal networks in order to progress developments surrounding the staff and student wellbeing.

4. Develop sustainable partnerships internal and external to the university in order to support growth and development of community programmes in line with RGU SPORT strategic work areas; Wellbeing, Performance and Education.

5. In liaison with the RGU SPORT management team develop and deliver programmes which contribute to the universities strategic plan, improving and enhancing the offer of Beyond the Classroom activities.

6. Assure compliance with the university's policies and procedures.

7. Attend regular colleague training and personal development sessions. Ensure qualifications are updated as and when required.

8. Carry out other related duties as required.

Person Specification



ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Qualifications and Professional Memberships



HND or above in Sport/Exercise Related subject or equivalent experience. Level 2 or above in coaching/teaching/instructing/trainer assessor approved qualifications or equivalent in; gym instructing, exercise to music, strength and conditioning (UKSCA), climbing (CWI), National Governing Body sport awards.

Knowledge



Knowledge of Sport and Physical activity development opportunities. Knowledge of local community sport, physical activity and exercise structures.

Experience



Experience of delivering sport, physical activity and exercise plans. Experience of working in partnership to achieve results. Experience of planning, coordinating and promoting and activities/events. Experience of delivering objectives within deadlines.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS



Knowledge



Knowledge and experience of the sportscotland Changing Lives Through Sport Champions Programme. Knowledge of Higher Education structures. Understanding of behaviour change in relation to sport, physical activity and exercise.

Experience



Experience of paid or volunteering roles within sport, physical activity and exercise. Experience of working in a commercial environment. Experience working with digital platforms, including social media, for marketing purposes. Experience of presenting, delivering, reviewing and developing sport programmes.
