About the role



The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality piano tuition through both individual and group sessions, supporting pupils in developing their skills and confidence as musicians. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Piano Tutor who is flexible in their delivery and eager to contribute to a wide range of exciting musical programmes across the academy. We are looking for a creative and innovative individual who can inspire pupils of all ages and abilities, who will play an active role within our dynamic and expanding department. The successful candidate will be passionate about Music and driven to make a real difference to our pupils. You will bring energy, enthusiasm, and a reflective approach to your practice, striving for continuous improvement while communicating your love of Music in a way that motivates and engages every learner.

Key Responsibilities

The Piano Peripatetic Teacher:





Plan and deliver engaging and effective piano lessons, tailored to the needs of individual pupils and small groups. Support pupils in developing secure technical skills, expressive performance, and a broad repertoire. Prepare pupils for internal and external performances, examinations, and auditions as appropriate. Use regular assessment to monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, and set achievable targets. Maintain clear and positive communication with parents, celebrating achievement and addressing challenges where necessary. Contribute to the organisation and delivery of concerts, recitals, and music events across the school. Work collaboratively with the Head of Music and colleagues to ensure effective scheduling of lessons and smooth integration of peripatetic provision within the school timetable. Maintain high expectations of behaviour and commitment, both in lessons and during school events. Demonstrate flexibility in teaching and be willing to contribute to a variety of musical programmes within the academy.

Other responsibilities





Be an active member of the music department, contributing ideas and energy to its continuing development. Support the musical enrichment of pupils across all age groups and abilities. Undertake administrative tasks relating to lesson registers, timetables, and pupil progress as required. Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and school policies. Promote equality of opportunity and inclusion for all members of the school community.
