Our Role

We are seeking a hands-on experienced and dedicated Pig Manager to oversee the daily operations of a commercial pig farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal husbandry. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring animal health and welfare, and promoting efficient production.

The successful applicant must be competent and up to date in all aspects of modern pig production, want to learn about genetic breeding, as well as being a good team leader. Agreed production targets must be achieved and maintained.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily activities including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring of pigs Oversee animal husbandry practices to ensure optimal growth, health, and welfare of livestock Maintain accurate records of animal health and production data Follow biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks Assist with breeding programs to enhance productivity

Skills

Supervising experience Strong animal husbandry skills Knowledge of animal handling techniques and modern breeding practices Good understanding of equipment maintenance routines Previous experience is desired in a three week batch farrowing system, together with wet and dry feed equipment, ventilation and slurry systems.
