We are the UK's leading volume screen printer of garments to retail and trade, with leading edge print technology and excellent relationships with high street retailers and all the major supermarket brands. We share our site with Bioworld International which is a joint venture business owned by NJ Screen Prints and the US based Bioworld Merch who are global leaders in the design and development of licensed products in the UK and Europe and employs around 80 staff.
We are seeking a skilled Planning and Packing Manager who is driven by achieving efficiency through thorough planning, delivering quality and a developing a motivated team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager, used to leading their team with values-based behaviours, driving customer service and improving quality. The successful candidate will be a supportive and challenging team player who will plan and run their department to optimal efficiently, whilst always meeting both internal and customer process requirements.
This business is a fast-paced organisation, with short lead time and multiple processes and components to achieve within a set delivery schedule. The main duties and activities are below:
Plan and coordinate departmental capacity for processing and packing operations, collaborating with other departmental managers to ensure alignment with overall production goals. Organize daily departmental activities and provide clear communication on job schedules, including timelines for task completion.
Carry out twice daily SQDIP meetings with relevant departments and put corrective actions in place when required.
Communicate with the Account Managers regarding all relevant aspects of processing and transfer production as and when required.
Oversee the transfer of stock to and from task areas, carry out materials and consumables ordering, storage and processing; and accurate and timely processing of department output data and its relevant paperwork trail.
To attend safety, planning and production meetings and to pass on any relevant information to operatives through daily team briefings, instruction, and training.
Champion and lead by example the business values cultures and behaviours
Ensure team member skill gaps are regularly reviewed and training plans are in place to bridge those gaps; keeping an accurate and up to date skills matrix to ensure optimum operator flexibility
Manage team leaders, ensuring thorough communication of daily and weekly goals as per the work schedule.
Review the overall team performance with the team leaders throughout the day ensuring action to maintain targets is taken.
Responsibility for reviewing and managing the team, including addressing lateness, absence and performance, by following company processes
Ensure teams are adhering to all Health, Safety, and compliance requirements, including the management of the sharps procedure
Carry out both Health & Safety and 6'S audits for your area
Undertake defect reporting and basic departmental maintenance
Take responsibility for waste control within the function and campion good housekeeping
