Role Snapshot...
This is an opportunity for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract in the Majors Planning Team. We have a challenging and busy period with a large pipeline of applications and projects to deliver in the next 12 months and need support working on some of the more minor applications and workstreams that support this. You will have some knowledge and experience of planning on a day to day level however will receive the necessary support to grow your skills, knowledge and experience to be successful in this Development Management role and so this is an opportunity to build on your existing knowledge and experience.
Your organisational, time management, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills will enable you to be responsible for your own work and effect positive outcomes on applications, projects and workstreams.
What you'll be doing...
You will be part of a busy development management team initially principally working to support the Majors Planning team on smaller 'supporting' planning applications, discharge of conditions, non material amendments, post decision matters and project support for major applications. Subject to work demands of the team, you may also be required to assess planning applications on other minor applications typically householder applications and other minor proposals.
You will assist in processing and advising on general enquiries and advise on whether planning permission is required.
Assessing planning applications and discharge of condition applications includes site inspections, publicity, liaison with technical consultees, negotiation with applicants/agents, objectors and the public.
Preparing delegated reports and recommendations to committee in respect of your caseload.
Assist senior officers preparing evidence, land use history and statements in the preparation of appeals.
Undertake administrative duties in support of the work of the Development Management Team, including monitoring compliance with planning permissions and work to support senior planning colleagues on Major planning applications.
You will... have a relevant qualification (HNC or related degree) and/or proven experience in a planning environment and
have a full driving licence.
