Hertsmere lies within southern Hertfordshire bordering the northern edge of Greater London. We have a unique combination of economic opportunities alongside a diverse townscape, villages and extensive areas of green belt land, meaning the borough provides an exciting opportunity to experience every aspect of the planning system. The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras. The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset) with the brand new Sky Studios scheduled to open in the Spring.

We\'re working to provide a Joint Strategic Plan for the region whilst striving to deliver high performing and quality focused Development Management (DM) and Planning Enforcement services which meet the needs of existing and future residents.

This is a newly created role within our Planning Enforcement team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the planning and development management process and gain experience in dealing with planning complaints and matters of planning enforcement. This will include the opportunity to be involved with appeals.

We are looking for an officer with good time management and organisational skills, combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer care. The successful candidate will also have the ability to read plans and drawings and prepare and present information effectively in writing and orally. The successful candidate will also need to be able to adjust to competing demands and define priorities, working in an efficient and accurate manner and should be well-versed in utilising a range of computer packages.

On the job support and training will be provided inclusive of the potential to attend agreed individual training sessions/courses.

The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
