Join Our Team as a Logistics Planner - Whittlesey



Are you an enthusiastic and driven individual looking to make a difference in a dynamic logistics environment? We're seeking a Logistics Planner to join our team based in Whittlesey, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective distribution of Forterra products, while exceeding customer expectations.

40 (Mon-Fri). Rotating between the hours of 7am and 5pm.



Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

Proactively plan distribution: Create efficient 5-day lead schedules in our electronic system to optimize driver loads and maximize fleet utilization. Coordinate third-party logistics: Identify and arrange spot market work with hauliers through the transport coordinator. Meet KPIs: Ensure schedules align with required loads-per-day and cost-per-load targets. Problem-solve effectively: Resolve issues promptly with drivers, customers, sales, and transport coordinators. Drive efficiency: Minimize empty runs and identify cost-saving opportunities. Utilize systems insightfully: Detect and address system errors and timing issues. Adapt and react quickly: Respond professionally to urgent loads and changes. Deliver outstanding customer service: Keep stakeholders informed on delivery progress, failed loads, or changes. Analyse data for improvement: Use reports and system data to identify areas for planning efficiency. Communicate effectively: Maintain close contact with sales coordinators to ensure excellent customer service.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has strong knowledge of transport legislation. Is highly computer literate and experienced with computerised routing, scheduling, and resource planning systems. Thrives under pressure, prioritises tasks, and meets tight deadlines. Possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Is confident, approachable, and proactive. Has solid experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Teams.
