The Hereford operation is the major UK production facility in PCC Metals & Forgings Group and we now have an exciting/ challenging opportunity for a Planning Manager to join the Special Metals Wiggin (SMW) team.

Role Overview:



Controls and participates in the activities of Circuit Managers to plan, schedule and control material through their assigned areas to meet the overall Company delivery targets and inventory objectives covering production, metal control and accounting requirements.

Responsibilities

:

Manages directly and through the circuit managers the application of the appropriate systems to ensure effective planning, loading, scheduling and progress of orders through the manufacturing process to meet the promised delivery date. Ensures the effectiveness of the established procedures and system, dealing with all aspects of an order through an assigned area (Routes, schedules, progress, control, reporting etc). Maintains, through Production Managers, an oversight of demands and trends for products in relation to corporate resources and capabilities. Recommends switching of process routes to maximize total company output and optimize customer service, market share and profitability. Ensures that throughout the manufacturing cycle there is an effective metals control interface both in terms of accuracy of data and resources required to provide a proper level of service. Maintains inventories at agreed levels using the appropriate systems ensuring account is taken of current yield trends to ensure realistic processing of material to meet customer needs. Ensures that procedures are up to date and are correctly applied, so that data is timely and accurate. Ensures the correct routes are established and that, melting methods, MOM's, SOP's, Class A requirements etc., are strictly adhered to. Advises Technical team of discrepancies in procedures for corrective action. Ensures correct actions are taken in loading demands/orders, taking account of material, process routes and delivery requirements, highlighting alternative routes, material etc., that is available to satisfy customer requirements i.e., Reworking finished or slow-moving stock. Maintains close liaison with Production Departments and outwork facilities on all aspects of the manufacturing cycle, arranging production programmes and agreeing proposed corrective actions as necessary. Co-ordinates system changes, preparing procedures for training - reference purposes. Participates in all stock checks particularly the annual stock take ensuring all metals control, accounting procedures requirements are met. Ensures by regular review all materials and planning systems and procedures are operated as defined and all necessary controls are observed.

Education/ Qualifications/ Experience:



Relevant degree or relevant Professional Qualification. At least 10 years managerial experience within Planning.
