OVERALL PURPOSE:
Ensure all competency standards are being managed along with the maintenance, performance and reliability of OTMs and rail vehicles to ensure a quality service to the company.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that the risks to the health and safety of yourself, fellow employees, contractors and third parties are systematically managed to as low as is reasonably practicable.
Comply with all health and safety legislation and approved codes of practice.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Support development of the policies and procedures for company owned On Track Machines (OTMs) and rail vehicles, ensuring compliance with the Company Safety Management System (SMS), ROGS and current legislation.
Develop in-house maintenance practices to maintain our fleet of rail vehicles, including Tampers, Ballast Regulators and Rail Cranes
Ensure maintenance plans are adhered to for Swietelsky's OTMs and rail vehicles, in accordance with the approved maintenance plans and current legislation, Railway Group/Rail Industry Standards
Complete feasibility reports and engineering studies into the introduction of new technology to the OTM and rail vehicle fleet and support applications through internal processes, Network Rail Product Acceptance and independent vehicle approval processes to improve reliability, performance and/or environmental impact
Document, review and assess engineering changes with the appropriate level of scrutiny
Represent Swietelsky on relevant industry forums
Provide support to maintain and reapply for Swietelsky's Safety Certificates (ROGS)
Analyse and respond to National Incident Reports (NIRs) and take appropriate action where these affect Swietelsky's operations and rail vehicles
Undertake technical audits of rail vehicles maintenance and depot facilities for maintenance and overhauls ensuring compliance with legislation and policies including ISO9001, PUWER, LOLER etc.
Assist with investigations, reports and tenders, providing input from an engineering perspective
Supports business development with input to assist growing the Company and entry into new markets within the rail industry.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
To ensure the delivery to the company of OTMs, rail vehicles and associated modifications to agreed specification and performance levels.
Have the knowledge to produce tangible benefits to the company as a consequence of correct allocation and programming of owned OTMs and rail vehicles.
Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Swietelsky ROGS, safety procedures and relevant legislation.
Resolve issues identified as non-conformances and improve related business practises.
Identify and set key success criteria to provide a further measure of performance within the organisation.
Maintain Swietelsky's Asset Management ISO 55001 registration
Ability to prioritise work appropriately
Requirement to work away from home.
Be disposed to occasional weekend and night shift working.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
MEng or BEng in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Will work towards chartered status with the relevant engineering institute for their discipline
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Good geographical knowledge.
Ability to drive.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience within the OTM or rail sector desirable.
