to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of plant equipment -- from small portable tools and generators to large machinery such as 8-tonne excavators. The role will also involve occasional welding and fabrication tasks, along with general mechanical work on company vehicles, including vans and HGVs.
This position is based in Neath but will require travel to various sites across South Wales. Call-outs may be required, and flexible working hours are available to meet operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair faults on a variety of construction plant machinery and equipment.
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections to ensure machinery is safe and fully operational.
Perform welding and fabrication work as required for repairs or modifications.
Maintain and repair company vehicles, including vans and HGVs, when needed.
Attend breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs on-site.
Maintain accurate service and repair records.
Adhere to all health and safety policies and safe working practices.
Work both independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a plant fitter, plant mechanic, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of repairing and maintaining small and large plant equipment (e.g., generators, excavators).
Competent welding and fabrication skills.
Experience working on vehicles, including light commercial vans and HGVs.
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
NVQ or equivalent qualification in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering, or similar discipline.
CSCS card.
Experience working in the construction industry.
