Overview of the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Mechanic to join our team at Hartham Park Bath stone mine, operating within the minerals and extractives industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the efficient operation of heavy machinery used in our extraction operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment, contributing to the production of one of the UK's most renowned natural resources--Bath stone.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy plant machinery, including excavators, loaders, crushers, telehandlers and forklifts, to ensure maximum efficiency and minimise downtime.
Diagnose faults and identify solutions using appropriate tools, equipment, and diagnostic software.
Conduct routine inspections and servicing of machinery to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Fabricate and weld as needed to repair or modify machinery components.
Stock and manage spare parts and supplies to meet operational needs effectively.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations, including mine-specific safety protocols.
Collaborate with the teams to streamline machinery use and provide support during peak operational times.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for compliance purposes.
Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience working with heavy plant machinery within industries such as mining, construction, or agriculture.
Strong mechanical and technical skills, with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or maintenance, such as NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent is desirable.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations.
Desirable Skills
Experience in the minerals and extractives industry or working in a mining environment.
Knowledge of stone extraction and processing equipment.
Familiarity with computerised diagnostic tools and software.
Experience with welding and fabrication techniques

Additional Information
Competitive starting salary of 37,000 - 42,000 per annum
Overtime available and production bonus scheme
Permanent position, minimum 40 hours per week
Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, with no shift work. Occasional weekend work may be required for emergency breakdowns
