We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Plant Nursery Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. This role is essential in ensuring that our plants are cultivated, maintained, and cared for to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for nurturing both plants and team members.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate daily nursery operations, ensuring optimal growth and health of plants. Manage the irrigation systems to maintain proper moisture levels for various plant species. Train and mentor staff on best practices for plant care, including the use of hand tools and power tools. Perform regular inspections of plants to identify any issues related to pests or diseases, implementing appropriate solutions. Oversee heavy lifting tasks associated with planting, repotting, and moving large specimens as needed. Maintain nursery equipment, performing repairs when necessary to ensure all tools are in good working order. Utilise basic maths skills for inventory management and record-keeping purposes. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the nursery environment.

Qualifications

Proven experience in horticulture or a related field is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with nursery work. Familiarity with garden maintenance techniques and practices is highly desirable. Proficient in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Basic maths skills for managing inventory and record keeping are required. A passion for plants and a commitment to maintaining a high-quality nursery environment.
