Plant Operator - Excavator

Key responsibilities



Operate 360 and/or 180 excavators (wheeled or tracked) to carry out digging, trenching, grading, lifting and loading tasks.

Conduct pre-start checks, routine inspections, and basic maintenance to ensure the machine is safe and serviceable

Safe operation of plant machinery, according to training and OEM guidelines

Completion of daily walk around checks and inspections, according to OEM recommendations

Ensuring plant remains in good condition and free from damage

Ensuring all working hours are captured on the assigned time sheet and approved by the customer representative

Ensure efficient use of fuel, materials and equipment to minimise waste and maximize machine efficiency

Key skills



Proven experience in operating excavators in a construction or civil engineering environment.

Familiarity with underground services avoidance and safe dig practices

Awareness of lifting operations, exclusion zones, and safe working limits of excavators

Other considerations



Valid CPCS/NPORS certification for relevant plant

CSCS Card (where required)

Full UK driving license (desirable)

Lifting Operations Training (desirable)

Travelling within region and nationally as required.
