About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Plater Welder, where your primary responsibility is tig and / or MIG welding mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. Each job must be produced with safety, accuracy, and timeliness. You will be able to:
Demonstrate an expert level of building parts/assemblies to drawings.
Can design / weld parts together and produce basic complex jigs and fixtures for production and intent purposes.
Welding to a high quality and dimensionally checking to drawings.
Can demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills
Is capable of training / coaching and mentoring others.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create quality welds according to drawings (weld symbols).
Inspect welds for accuracy.
Change wire, welding, as needed.
Change gas cylinders as needed
Responsible for the safe and proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the correct location.
Ensure all equipment is correctly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
Performs first piece dimensional inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by AET quality standards.
Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
Perform simple maintenance and repair as required.
Will be required to cross-train as back-up/floating resource in other areas of the fabrication Team.
Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Apprentice trained / time served experience in the fabrication industry.
Good mathematical ability and the ability to read and interpret drawings.
Ability to operate precision measuring devices such as callipers, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability and Thoroughness of work performed.
